Schinkel Pavilion, Berlin

The US-American artist Pope.L (born 1955 in Newark, New Jersey) conceived the site-specific installation Contraption especially for the exhibition.
The central component of the installation is a room-filling, robot-like machine that is continuously brought to life by a performer. The woodcutter-like apparatus is fed with abstract wooden sculptures reminiscent of the architecture of the old Berlin Palace, the Neue Wache and the Schinkel Pavilion itself.
